This race, for those of us that did the full 26.2, had trail, road, residential, water, and parks. A flat course sans the bridge, it was a lot of fun. I’m so glad I choose to explore new places on foot. The course limit is 6 hours for the full marathon, and I came in well under that, despite taking all the photos. There was no one at the last aid station when I got there at about mile 24. I am sure volunteers were told only to be there until X time, but it is concerning for medical issues. If I had been hurt, there would still be no one to notify until the finish or until the saggin’ wagon found me. Similarly, after finishing and receiving my medal, I made my way to the festivities, but the beer vendor had packed up (it’s okay, I don’t generally drink the beer), and much of the food was gone. I wasn’t disappointed because it’s not really my thing anyway, but a lot of people were still chatting and drinking and there was energy so for folks that are more extroverted, I could tell it was a good party. The walk back to the car was about .75 miles and was very easy. I would do this race again, but would try the half to see what else I missed, and because it is a bit of a drive.
